Celebrate World Kindness Day! - Singapore
13 November is World Kindness Day, and you are invited to join in the celebrations!
Back in 1998, the World Kindness Movement conference decided to set aside one day in the year – 13 November – to reaffirm its commitment to kindness as citizens of the world. This year, Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) is spearheading a drive to get everyone to affirm and thank the kind people they know.
If someone has done something nice for you, no matter how big or small, take time out on 13 November to present the person with a yellow gerbera daisy, to say a big ‘thank you’ to him or her! You can also gather a few of your friends or colleagues to surprise the person with a ‘Kindness Ambush’. This group demonstration of appreciation can involve any number of people with each presenting a daisy to the person.
Mr Teh Thien Yew, General Manager of SKM, explained the rationale of this action: “We know that there are kind people around. We really want to encourage and appreciate them so that kindness can be experienced by more people in Singapore.”
To make it even easier to say ‘thank you’, SKM volunteers will be giving out free daisies on 13 November. You can also pick up a stalk of flower from selected retail and dining outlets. Log onto www.kindness.sg for details.
So come celebrate World Kindness Day with our flower power movement!
