Quarry Hill Honors Nursing Assistants

Nancy Marcille, RN, BSHA, practically lights up when she speaks of the approximately 75 certified nursing assistants (CNAs) who care around the clock for patients and residents at Quarry Hill, the Camden retirement community where she serves as director of nursing.

Kicking off the community’s celebration of Certified Nursing Assistant Week, June 16–23, Marcille called CNAs “the unsung heroes—the heart and soul— of healthcare.”

“They’re the world changers,” she continued. “Their kindness, caring, and commitment impact the lives of everyone with whom they interact. They are the ‘constant’ andthe foundation of senior care. CNAs are the people who are at the bedside, ready to help, to listen, to fill in for family when family can’t be there, and to share news from the larger community. They’re the eyes and ears of our professional nursing staff, helping pick up on subtle changes related to each person’s well-being.”

About

The idea behind the World Kindness Movement (WKM) crystallised at a conference in Tokyo in 1997 when the Small Kindness Movement of Japan brought together like-minded kindness movements from around the world. The WKM was officially launched in Singapore on 18 November 2000 at the 3rd WKM Conference.

The mission of the WKM is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness and to connect nations to create a kinder world.
