World Kindness Movement Blog

No one has yet realized the wealth of sympathy, the kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.

It is often the small kindnesses — the smiles, gestures, compliments, favors — that make our day and can even change our lives. Whether you are leading your own company, running for president of the PTA, or just trying to conduct a civil conversation with your teenage daughter, the power of nice will help you break through the misconceptions that keep you from achieving your goals. The power of nice will help you to open doors, improve your relationships at work and at home, and let you sleep a whole lot better. Nice not only finishes first; those who use its nurturing power wind up happier, to boot!

True concern for others manifests itself as unconditional friendship. To be kind means that the more someone is suffering, the more love you show that person. It give you the courage to help another stand up. And it means recognizing another person’s unhappiness for what it is, trying to understand and share that person’s suffering. This will enable you to grow and at the same time help the other person become strong. Kindness means training ourselves in the art of encouraging others.

Really big people are, above everything else, courteous, considerate and generous - not just to some people in some circumstances - but to everyone all the time.

Kindness is timeless
Love is so easy to give
It just takes a moment
To show somebody that you care

In the world that we live in
Everybody wants to be so cruel
To be in the in-crowd
Got the hottest clothes, the hottest shoes
We’re reading the tabloids
And we’re flossing in the club
But the freshest thing you can do is
Give someone your love

Kindness is timeless
Love is so easy to give
It just takes a moment
To show somebody you care

About

The idea behind the World Kindness Movement (WKM) crystallised at a conference in Tokyo in 1997 when the Small Kindness Movement of Japan brought together like-minded kindness movements from around the world. The WKM was officially launched in Singapore on 18 November 2000 at the 3rd WKM Conference.

The mission of the WKM is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness and to connect nations to create a kinder world.
